Brooke Astor was the grande dame of New York society. Sotheby’s will be auctioning the contents of two of her residences, her Park Avenue apartment and her country estate Holly Hill. The vast collection is made up of treasures Astor collected throughout her lifetime. The treasures include Chinese furnishings and trinkets dating back to the Qing dynasty, many paintings and drawings of dogs, and exquisite array of jewelry.
The auction will be held September 24th and 25th. Proceeds from the auction will go to Astor’s favorite charities including The New York Public Library, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as others.
