The front door is your calling card to the world. It should express who you are. Make your front door warm and welcoming. Your front entrance is the first thing that guests see when they enter your home. You could have a wonderful home, but if the front door is shabby, it sets the guest’s perception of the entire house. If you have spent a fortune on your home, don’t blow it by not paying close attention to your front door. Painting the front door will give you a big bang for your buck, just make sure it is in keeping with the architecture of the home. Don’t stop at the door. Make sure you add beuatiful light fixtures, beautiful mats, and potted plants. A beautiful robust pot of plants add a pop of extra color to the space. Dead flowers in a pot don’t count. Don’t bother with the plants if you can’t maintain them. And finally, a front door mat is the piece de resistance. The striped door mat pictured above adds a lot of pizzaz to the front entry. You want your guests feel welcome from the moment they knock on you door.
