With spring officially starting this Thursday and family summer vacations already being planned to exotic luxury travel destinations, with outdoor views like this one, above {swoon!} , at Grand Hotel Timeo in Taormina, Italy, I thought it would be fun to explore luxury outdoor kitchens today on Hadley Court, in case your family prefers to stay closer to home and enjoys cooking together, outside.
Hi Hadley Court readers, this is Leslie Carothers with today’s guest blog post for friend and client, Midland, Texas luxury interior designer Leslie Hendrix Wood, the founder of Hadley Court on outdoor luxury kitchens, sparked by my time with Leslie at the recent Design Bloggers Conference in Atlanta. Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchens was one of the #DBC2014 sponsors and I had the pleasure of spontaneously interviewing Larry Smith, the marketing manager of Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchens, a sponsor of the #DBC2014, about *Trends in Luxury Outdoor Kitchens* for the Interior Design Community on Google’s social media site, Instagram, while I was there.
He had so many interesting trends and ideas to share for designers and if you’re a designer reader of Hadley Court, I hope you’ll read this post through to the end and then come back to view and hear what Larry had to share with you, here .
Larry said that luxury outdoor kitchens like this one below designed by Sausalito, CA based Urrutia Design are being requested by more and more families.
Many friends of Leslie’s from her hometown of Midland, Texas – who have second homes in the Hill Country area of Texas – as does Leslie and her family – enjoy having their indoor and outdoor living experiences blend seamlessly together.
They enjoy being able to cook and entertain outside, come rain or shine, all year around. One example of another family doing this is the Ressler family of New Haven, CT. They installed this Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchen you see below, that was featured, here, on the Wall Street Journal’s website. {At the time these pictures were taken for the WSJ article, the Resslers were adding a roof }.
Also, an interesting article about how much you might want to consider budgeting for an outdoor kitchen can be found, here, along with interesting information about the resale value considerations.
As Larry explained to me, Brown Jordan makes it very easy now for designers to plan these outdoor kitchens by giving them unlimited options in finishes and customizing capabilities. Their online brochure, here, will take you through some more examples of what they’re able to create.
I think having a luxury outdoor kitchen would be the ultimate in gracious living. Imagine if outdoor kitchens had been available to install in the courtyard of Hadley Court in Arkansas, pictured below, where Leslie spent her summers when she was growing up – guided in the values of gracious living instilled in her by her mother.
Today’s families have many more options in how to live, cook and entertain graciously, outside, now.
Even a freestanding bartender’s kitchen for your patio area, with refrigeration and plumbing options is available for your outdoor entertaining, if you don’t need an entire outdoor cooking area, too.
Brands like Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchens are also now doing smart things, too, with bloggers like Jeanne Chung of Cozy Stylish Chic – whom they sponsored to attend the Design Bloggers Conference.
As long time Hadley Court readers know, Hadley Court won the Hall of Fame Award for Best New Design Blog at the Design Bloggers Conference in 2013, but this year, 2014, 4 new finalists were up for this award, including Jeanne.
[ Please meet all 4 finalists for the Design Bloggers Conference Hall of Fame award for Best New Design Blog 2014, here , on a previous Hadley Court post, and please read more about Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchens, and how they sponsored Jeanne, here, on the Instagram Interior Design Community’s website. ]
And, although Jeanne didn’t win, she is attending, this week, the Architectural Digest Home Show in NYC as part of Veronika Miller’s { Modenus } #BlogTourNYC, where Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchens will have a display. If you’ll be there, please stop by. They’re in booth 469.
This video on CASUAL LUXURY LIVING from last year’s Architectural Digest Home Show, which included a panel led by world renowned designer Thom Filicia, and which included Sunbrella’s design director, Gina Vicker, shares very interesting insights into today’s Casual Luxury Living lifestyle { plus it contains some wonderful clips of the things these designers saw last year at the show -don’t miss it! }
Please click the picture below if you’d like to view the video. Sunbrella’s outdoor fabrics are often used on Brown Jordan’s outdoor furniture collections, too, and Leslie uses Sunbrella’s indoor/outdoor fabrics frequently, for her Midland, Texas luxury interior design clients.
And as the day, and this post, draws to a close, wouldn’t it be lovely, if you can’t go to Grand Hotel Timeo this year, to be able to enjoy your own beautiful view, at home, surrounded by your friends and family?
