You may remember when, in February 2013, Hadley Court won the Design Bloggers Conference Hall Of Fame award, { a picture of attendees is above ] sponsored by Traditional Home magazine, for the category of *Best New Design Blog 2013* and how completely surprised I was.
I will always treasure the memory of the moment they read my name out loud in Los Angeles – I started crying- I could not believe it, and still, to this day, feel so honored by this recognition and to be included with the other bloggers who’ve won these awards, listed below. I still don’t know who nominated by blog, nor how I won this, but I am very thankful I did as it has opened up many new opportunities for me. If you’d like, please click here to read more.
Today, on Hadley Court, I want to pay it forward and introduce you below, in detail, to the { 4 } 2014 finalists for this prestigious award in the category of BEST NEW DESIGN BLOG, out of all those nominated.
Before I do, though, please, if you have time this weekend, enjoy all the blogs listed below that are already Hall of Fame members. If you subscribe to their blogs, you’ll be well rewarded for your time.
Now, I’d like to introduce you to the four bloggers {defined by the rules as those whose blogs are 1 year old or less} who’ve been announced as finalists for this year’s 2014 Best New Design Blog Hall of Fame award. The voting has started and will end on Wednesday, Feb. 12th and the winners will be announced during the Conference on Monday, March 3rd.
The winning blog is determined 50% by the votes of the general public { you } and 50% by the judges. Please click here if you’d like the voting link for the 4 finalists for this year’s award, that I will introduce to you, in detail and in alphabetical order by last name, below.
NOMINEE #1
Jeanne Chung, named as a finalist for the Design Bloggers Conference Hall of Fame award for Best New Design Blog 2014 for: http://cozystylishchic.com.
Jeanne lives in Los Angeles with her husband and 2 children and is a graduate of Parsons in New York, where she enjoyed a long and illustrious career in fashion design and in her family’s fashion business, before turning her talents to residential design a little over 1 year ago. This picture of her *family* on her blog, made me smile. To read more about Jeanne and to see her blog, click here.
Jeanne is also taking commissions from interior designers for hand renderings and, as you can see from the one below, the first one she’s attempted in 5 years, she’s very talented.
Jeanne loves color and writing about new products and she’s recently accepted the moderator position on the Instagram Interior Design Community, here, for the categories of Color and New Products. Jeanne did a *Five Things Friday* guest post for Julie Thigpen of the well known design blog, Belle Maison, here, and you can see how much she loves color if you click through to it. As one of Jeanne’s *Five Things*, chose to highlight DBC sponsor, Lamps Plus’ new Color+ Plus Collection. Aren’t these colors wonderful? All the lamps in this collection are available in these colors. I like having so many options for my interior design client’s children’s rooms here in Midland, Texas and they’re very reasonably priced.
One of them would look beautiful in this room Jeanne chose to share in her guest post for Julie, do you agree?
NOMINEE #2
Lisa L. Kahn, named as a finalist for the Design Bloggers Conference Hall of Fame award for Best New Design Blog 2014 for: http://lisawrites.kahndesigngroup.com.
Lisa is a full time luxury interior designer in Naples, FL who has had her own interior design firm for the past 14 years and currently designs a collection of furniture for Chelsea House, shown at High Point Market. I enjoyed visiting with Lisa when I was there last fall, and my guest contributor, Lynda, wrote about that, here, where the first picture you’ll see is of Lisa’s collection. I am looking forward to seeing her newest collection for Chelsea House when I attend Spring #HPmkt the first week in April. If you’re a designer and you’d like to attend High Point Market, too, click here for more information.
Lisa is married with 2 teenage children and her husband, Philip, in addition to working with Lisa in her design practice, is a talented musician and composer. Lisa’s words for her design work are pretty and sophisticated and I agree, do you? Two examples are below:
Lisa recently returned from one of Modenus‘ Blog Tours to London, { you can see a curated portfolio of Lisa’s design work on http://modenus.com by clicking here. }. Lamps Plus sponsored this blogger tour, too, and Lisa about them on her blog, here, and shared some of her favorite choices of lighting she found on their site. This is the one I liked the best from what Lisa curated:
NOMINEE #3
Jillian O’Neill, named as a finalist for the Design Bloggers Conference Hall of Fame award for Best New Design Blog 2014 for: http://jillianoneillatelier.blogspot.com.
Jillian is a practicing luxury designer in Houston, Texas. She recently re-located to Houston from Chicago with her husband and their 4 children when her husband accepted a job as manager of team operations for the Houston Astros. As a former model for Armani while she was in design school, Jill’s blog and her design work reflect her crisp, sophisticated and modern design aesthetic.
In addition to being a wife, designer and mother to 4, Jill is an avid cook and loves to read cooking blogs. See what her new journey into blogging has meant to her by clicking here.
A few beautiful examples of Jill’s design work are below and you can visit her site, here, to see more.
NOMINEE #4
Michelle Cannon Smith, named as a finalist for the Design Bloggers Conference Hall of Fame award for Best New Design Blog 2014 for: http://ironandtwine.blogspot.com.
Michelle is an avid DIY ‘er and, having just celebrated turning 30, she and her husband Brian { and their dog, Rawley } have spent the last few years on the remodeling of their cute 1950’s bungalow in Maine. The before and after of their living room is below. Here’s Rawley:
And here’s Michelle and Brian’s living room before…
I think Michelle’s DIY journey she’s sharing on Iron and Twine is one my daughter Amy’s friends would like, too, and don’t miss clicking here to see Michelle’s 6 second VINE video showing the fire burning in their cute backyard fireplace.
Michelle recently cut off her very long hair to donate it to the Michigan based http://wigs4kids.org. Imagine what a difference this:
made for a little girl with cancer like this:
I love Michelle’s giving spirit and invite you to see her Instagram feed, here, too, where she shares more of her DIY life in Maine with Brian and their friends.
Now, it’s time to vote and to ask your friends to vote, too. Each one of these 4 new blogs deserves to win, don’t you agree?

I hope you’re one of them next month.
