It’s a wrap-holidays 2013 are in the books and a hopeful New Year has arrived. After Christmas I eagerly anticipate Spring with its technicolor show of  blooming flowers, trees and my wardrobe. I adore color; whether it is bright clothes, accent walls or decorative home decor. I must admit I was thrilled when the new “it” color of 2014 was announced which is the pinky-purple hue of Radiant Orchid (Pantone color no. 18-3224) since it is a color I already wholeheartedly embrace. I believe color is very personal, since it tends to invoke a visceral response that is hard for most people to hide; especially if it is a bold, opaque hue that is counter to their color comfort zone. Yet the great thing about trendy colors is that you don’t have to marry them, you can just date them! I do it all the time. New throw pillow covers, cute ballet flats, bright picture frames and radiant nail color allow me to try a trendy spectrum to see what suits me. I always go back to my true love of autumnal hues, but I seasonally flirt with other colors all the time. So, today, look around and see where a new splash of color might fit into your life. While it might not be Radiant Orchid, you possibly could find a little nook in your life for some red shoes or maybe a tangerine Kitchen-Aid mixer. Happy Monday y’all!

About Kristi

Kristi Leeper is a lifelong lover of all things creative and crafty. She likes to touch things, dissect them, figure them out and maybe even reproduce them. Growing up in San Angelo, Texas she was exposed to small town values, but the world was always whispering in her ear to come out and play. Life has led her down a myriad of career paths such as a baker, licensed manicurist, florist, and a high school history teacher. The simple truth is she is good at all of these occupations and being good at a lot of things has served her well in life. She currently works as part-time as the Special Projects Manager for the Museum of the Southwest and for her husband keeping the books straight for the company he owns because he is simply a good boss and let’s her go to yoga whenever she wants.
