Saturday I was reading a post on Facebook by a friend and it was an exchange between her and her new mother in law. The post had a beautiful picture of the newlyweds in front of their Christmas tree with an ornament happily commemorating their first Christmas as a married couple. The post went on to explain that her husband’s Mom has collected an ornament for every year since her son’s birth that essentially told the story of his growing up. Each ornament represented something he liked or his interests annually, which ultimately turned into a magnificent “scrapbook” of ornaments. Upon their marriage this sentimental gift was bestowed on them by his Mom, along with the promise that she will continue to buy a unique, personal ornament for them as long as God allows her. I was so touched by this kind, simple thing that, now all these years later, is a testament of love, tradition and family that they now can continue on with in the future as they look forward to building a family of their own. Christmas is so much more than buying things, but in some things -value can be priceless because considerate things build a legacy of love and thoughtfulness that transcends generations. It is my hope we are all motivated to find little ways to pass love down while creating memories that last a lifetime. Tis’ the season…and happy Monday.

Yep, this is what Christmas is all about. I love this post, Kristi.
