This a family recipe from my sweet mother-in-law. She was given this recipe by one of her best friends. This isn’t your average spaghetti. Granted, it is not for one watching their figure but it is definitely worth the splurge every so often.I have made this as the main dish for an elegant meal or a simple meal for my family. My children absolutley adore it. This is their most requested dish. Anytime I serve this to guests, I am always asked for the recipe.
This recipe is great for a large crowd. I often double the recipe and freeze one for a future meal.
- 3 lbs. chicken
- 8 oz. thin spaghetti
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- 4 Tbsp. flour
- 1 cup cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup parmesan
- 1 cup sour cream
- ⅛ cup lemon juice
- ⅓ cup white wine
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- ½ tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1 tsp. salt
- 8 oz. fresh mushrooms
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- Boil chicken and bone. Break spaghetti into thirds and boil in chicken stock. Make basic white sauce. Melt butter, add flour and cook until bubbly. Add cream and chicken broth, stirring and cooking until thickened. Add mayonnaise, sour cream, parmesan cheese, lemon juice, wine, and seasonings. Saute mushrooms in butter, drain, and place mushrooms, chiken, spaghetti, and cream sauce in a flat 3 quart dish. Sprinkle paprika and additional parmesan cheese on top. Bake at 350 degrees.
Make this recipe for your next gathering and let me know what you think?
