Gold is Back and Better than Ever
It’s time to get your shine on!
Wednesday was like Christmas for me. Yes…CHRISTMAS! I participated in a Twitter chat product preview of some of the new products which will be unveiled at High Point Market next month. I am part of the official 2015 Style Spotter team for the High Point Market Authority and will be “spotting” emerging trends and showcasing my top finds I discover during market.
The preview chat, held by Lisa Ferguson of Decor Mentor and her team in partnership with High Point Market, was my first opportunity to see some of the new products to be featured in April. It felt like Christmas morning to see some of the top picks from designers around the country.
Gold was a recurrent thread in many of the furnishings and accessories. I have been seeing more gold during the last few markets. If yesterday’s preview is any indication, I suspect gold will be the prevailing trend for spring. I say, “Bring it On.”
How do you like the stunning rock mirror by Michael Aram? I think it would be the perfect jewelry for a powder room.
The hand forged Zamora mirror by Uttermost is a true feast for the eyes. I can envision a bank of these being hung in an entry or a dining room. They truly are a piece of artwork.
The Camilia armoire by Koket was inspired by the aristocratic palaces of the Alexandrian pashas of Egypt. Mother of pearl serves as the background for the hand-carved peacock, which is meticulously engraved and delicately finished in gold leaf. I can’t wait to see this in person. WOW!
I believe this is one of the most unusual pieces I have ever seen. The Symphony sideboard by Boca do Lobo was inspired by music. No wonder it reminds me of the pipe organ at my church. A cluster of polished brass tubes envelop an exotic wood structure. This would be a true conversation piece in any home.
I adore the Devon lamp designed by the ever so talented Lisa Kahn for Chelsea House. The lamp exudes the perfect balance of traditional and modern and is to sure to be a real crowd pleaser. I will take two, please!
I am smitten with the Belvedere lamp by Couture Lamps. This metallic marvel is made from a base of natural buffalo horn and gilded wood. The oversized shade covered in gold leaf adds a true artisanal look.
I told you it is like Christmas. Are you as excited as I am to see all the eye candy that High Point Market has to offer in April? Stay tuned, because I will be sharing with you my amazing finds in April.
And what do you think of the gold trend? Do you love it as much as I do? Which is these is your favorite piece?
