LEGACY OF GIVING
The Bernhardt Furniture family, now being run by the 4th generation, has been in business for 125 years and this year, to celebrate their founders, their employees and the artisans who’ve made their family’s success possible, they’re sharing twelve Stories of Giving on a new site, http://bernhardt125years.com, which highlights twelve employees and artisans who have made a personal contribution to helping those in need in Western North Carolina, where their factory is located. The Bernhardt family is giving contributions to those charities to the twelve charities selected.
I had the pleasure of visiting the Bernhardt showroom yesterday here in High Point, North Carolina, and Leslie Hendrix Wood’s design office, in Midland, Texas, a preview picture of which is shown below, is furnished with Bernhardt’s SALON collection. { The wallpaper is by Maya Romanoff, who unfortunately passed away earlier this year. Leslie, herself, wrote this tribute to him. }

It is my personal pleasure to support Bernhardt Furniture and especially this initiative to honor those in their employ who have given back to their community so beautifully. As many of you know, one of the three pillars of the Hadley Court brand is #FamilyTraditions.
For the Bernhardt family’s first Story of Giving, they’ve selected their executive assistant, Dawn Barrett, the founder of Dress to Impress which helps young women who can’t afford a prom dress, in her community, get one, to improve their self esteem. For more info, see http://graceplace.info.
This is Dawn and here’s her story on Bernhardt’s Stories of Giving site.

As, we all know: It takes a village.

On behalf of everyone at Bernhardt, thank you so very much for this tribute.
As we mark our 125th anniversary, Bernhardt reaffirms our founding values—not only of making quality furniture, but also of building a strong community. We are so proud of the caring and giving human beings who comprise our company and give of themselves within their communities.
So, thank you for appreciating not only what we make, but also who we are.
All the best, and much continuing success!
Stephanie,
It always a pleasure to feature Bernhardt. I missed getting to see you at market. I have seen some beautiful new Bernhardt pieces on Facebook and Pinterest.
All the best,
Leslie Wood
Thank you again, Stephanie, for responding on behalf of your client, Bernhardt Furniture Company. It was a pleasure to feature their Stories of Giving initiative on Hadley Court.
Have a blessed day ~
Giving back to any community is to be highly commended. I especially liked the Dress to Impress idea of providing prom dresses for young girls who may not have the means to get one otherwise.
It reminds me of my mother who ran a prom dress business and on many occasions she would offer dresses to girls who were from one parent families or whom she knew could not afford to buy a prom dress. Keep up the great work that you do and God Bless.
Thank you, Ted, for taking your time to comment on this post about Bernhardt Furniture Company’s *Giving Back* initiative. It is truly to be commended which is why we featured it on the blog. They represent a wonderful American furniture family which has been in business for 4 generations.
Thank you, too, for sharing the story about your mother who ran a prom dress business and offered dresses to girls who might not otherwise be able to afford a prom dress.
One tiny act of kindness like your Mom offered to these girls, must have had wonderful repurcussions in their lives re: their self esteem.
Please come back and visit us anytime, Ted!
Thank you again for sharing your story ~
