In the spirit of the season – with fall in full swing and Halloween just around the corner, and the crisp leaves, turning, falling, blanketing the ground… As the temperatures start to cool – although we’re still having many 70 degree days here in New England – I find myself slowly transitioning my wardrobe and my home from the lighter fabrics and cooler ocean-like tones evoking thoughts of cool, calm, and tranquility to those that are heavier and warmer and more appropriate for the season – warm, energizing oranges, spices, pumpkins, relaxed beiges – colors that will seamlessly transition us into the Thanksgiving holiday. Without completely making over my home, I like to punctuate my decor with seasonally appropriate pops of color. I happen to adore orange, all shades from energizing tangerine to her warmer, more soothing pumpkin-like tones.
It doesn’t take much – just a pop of color here and there… a pillow or two… or three or four… Switch out a lamp or a lamp shade, toss in some throw blankets – isn’t the one above dreamy? It’s my lust-must item. The Hermes orange is the perfect fall color! While a little more permanent, I’ve added some other fall colored inspiration below – a comfortable reading chair, a happy bathtub, citrus trees that can carry you through all the seasons (add some bows and ornaments and they’re decked out for the holidays!)
I really do adore orange in the home. It’s playful yet sophisticated and simple yet bold.
