Trending Thursday: Lacquer Out Loud

Imagine ten million, fabulous square feet of every chic furnishing find one can imagine, and you’ve got High Point Market in North Carolina! Each October, hundreds of thousands of designers and buyers flock to the ‘furniture capital of the world’ to see the the latest and greatest products in the industry. This special market is often a first look at coming trends in home decor. The trade show has not opened yet, but the inside scoop is that lacquered furniture, in bold hues, is one of the hot trends you’ll soon see everywhere.

chappy-console-table-palmThis transitional ‘Chappy’ console table is a lively sorbet shade and made by Dunes and Duchess, a company recently discovered by Oprah and O Magazine. This design duo keeps it simple with a small collection- offered in rich, saturated colors, and all hand-finished in the USA. Each lacquer option gives this piece a completely new look, making for a seriously versatile investment.

Jonathan Adler is quickly becoming a household name with his refreshing, and often humorous, twist on the classics. The ‘Polly’ cocktail table has a retro-modern vibe and can be configured into many different positions with it’s clever swivel motion. This conversation piece can be worked into a family or play room with ease.

Not ready to commit? Add just a shot of color with an all-purpose taboret (a french word for small drum), like this one from Bungalow 5. Use it as extra seating, a side table or pedestal. You cannot go wrong with a happy hue…find a way to color your world!
