Before High Point Market started, dear readers, Midland Texas luxury residential and commercial interior designer Leslie Hendrix Wood, the founder of this blog, had been reviewing the new product previews provided to her by the High Point Market Authority and had identified a trend she coined:
The New Feminine.
Leslie decided to filter all she saw while visiting exhibitors’ showrooms as an official 2015 #HPMKT Style Spotter [ #hpmktSS ] through this lens and the 21 products she selected for her official High Point Style Spots express various aspects of The New Feminine: ruffles, curves, legs, jewelry, runway detailing, etc.

Today, though, the subject of this post is on Leslie’s favorite Style Spot –> Century Furniture’s Chandler Telescoping Table, designed by Thomas O’Brien.
As Leslie pointed out in her talk during Style Spotters LIVE, Thomas O’Brien’s table for Century Furniture is a masterpiece of furniture craftsmanship and design, as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside, and destined to become a collector’s item and a furniture classic.
The CHANDLER Telescoping Table, closed, shown below, is perfect for a large hallway, entranceway or library table, and is perfect for seating for 6, but when it is rotated, it opens up to receive 8 additional leaves, each one numbered so the owner knows exactly where they fit, and becomes a table with seating for 10 – or depending on the scale of the chairs selected, a table for 12.
This is the Chandler Telescoping Table, below, open. Notice the exquisite brass detailing on each leaf and in the center of the table.

Notice how Mr. O’Brien tapered the first part of the leg into graduated, stacked turnings so the base would maintain its light, yet strong, stable appearance.
And then he added the perfect *shoe* to the softly curving legs, these elegant brass hand cast ferrules. He even thought to create a *closet* for his beautiful haute couture table’s leaves, this piece that Leslie is standing next to in the picture below. No need to worry that the leaves will get scratched, this coordinating piece of furniture, as perfectly made as the table, makes sure they won’t! Thoughtful design makes all the difference. It’s part of …

We applaud Century Furniture for their Made In The USA craftsmanship and investing in producing a new collection of this magnitude.
