In design, pillows are like icing on the cake. Cake is good without icing, but it is even better with icing. In design, a room can be pretty without pillows, however, pillows are the final touch that make a room dance. Pillows contribute to a room’s decorative geometry. One key element to the perfect pillow is to make sure it is “well fed.” It is important to make sure that the right combination of feather and down is used to stuff the pillow. Down is softer and lighter but doesn’t hold its shape well while feathers give it a firmer structure. The size of the pillow form must be two inches larger than the finished size of the cover. And lastly, treat your pillows like a piece of art. After all, they are the icing on the cake.
