I love the entire Mohawk Carpet family of products but today I want to especially share with you about their magical “SmartStrand” – ecologically responsible, stain resistant, carpet technology that makes worrying about spills a thing of the past.

While I was in Las Vegas, I also had the privilege of touring the 2015 NAHB “New American Home” and while at the home, was able to see other examples of Mohawk’s flooring products and Karastan carpeting featured throughout.
The flooring used in many of the rooms in the home was Mohawk’s Clarett hardwood in graphite oak with a wire brushed finish. The medium to high color variance in the wood added beautiful textural variance to each room.
Mohawk’s ceramic tile was used inside and outside to create a seamless aesthetic.
Karastan smartstrand carpet was used in the bedrooms. The colors and textures used in The New American Home took their cue from home fashion with its emphasis on the neutral tones found in granite and marble.
As I promised earlier, I want to tell you about the biggest breakthrough I have ever seen in carpet. If you love red wine and white carpet, Mohawk has the carpet for you.

Both carpets were submerged into large glasses of wine and left to soak for a minute or so.

Wow! Just a simple dab from a cloth and the red wine is gone. Can you imagine entertaining with carpet you wouldn’t mind someone spilling red wine on? Entertaining will be forever changed with this innovative technology and, it’s really soft to the touch!
No more nylon carpet for me. Nylon has no core protection in the fiber, so it has to rely completely on temporary, topical treatments to prevent stains.
Only SmartStrand provides long-lasting durability with complete inside and outside protection from dirt and spills. SmartStrand will always be the easiest carpet to clean.
