Calm, serene, uncluttered and soothing.
The design work of Sophie Metz, shown above, exemplifies the edited, serene, calm feelings so many of us want in our homes now.
Did you involuntarily take a deep breath when you looked at this room like we did?
What could you edit out of your own rooms, and then what could you add back in, to give yourselves this same sense of serenity?
Our suggestion for an “add, after you finish editing?
One of Texas artist Jill Pumpelly’s paintings.
The one below titled,”The Mind Is An Ocean of Mystery”, is sold, but similar ones can be commissioned.
Leslie Hendrix Wood bought one of Jill’s paintings for her interior design offices in Midland, Texas, and her clients frequently comment on how calm it makes them feel when they look at it.
We love the way Jill was able to capture such a poetic feeling of the way light moves over water. Do you?
For areas where there may not be much natural light, one of her paintings { or one similar } could be a lovely design solution.
Now, we want to ask you:
Have you have recently edited your rooms and then added just one thing back in that brought you a greater sense of peace, calm and serenity?
If so, what was it?
We’d love to hear about in the comments and we think HC’s other readers would, too.
And… thank you, as always, for reading Hadley Court. We appreciate you!
