Why, when we paint, do we tend to paint just the walls? Is this because we are conditioned to having white ceilings? Now, I’m not saying we should do away with the white ceiling and banish it altogether, for when walls are dark, patterned or lacquered, a white ceiling offers a perfect perfect visual contrast. But consider lighter walls, don’t they need some contrast too? I would never venture to say that white walls are boring, well okay, they certainly can be! White walls are also fresh, crisp and clean, but sometimes they need a little bit of help. More help than, let’s say a few accent pieces or pillows. Sometimes a painted ceiling can be the perfect accompaniment! So when you’re decorating your next home, or when you’re next going to decorate your current home, don’t be afraid to look up!
