Here is something for you to consider – painting your floor! Many people love a white or neutral room but still want to add a splash of color. A painted floor is not only another way to add color and texture to your space, but it can serve to pull all your pieces together. Now, there’s no need to go over the top especially if your style is more toned down, but it can offer the perfect pop of color, whether your color choice happens to be brighter or more on the subdued side. Painted floors can be elegant, simple, sophisticated, and stylish. Painted floors can also make a good alternative to carpeting, and cover up flaws in less than perfect hardwood floors. They are more durable and easier to clean and maintain that area rugs or carpeting. Do think carefully about where you choose to paint your floors and your family dynamics. If you have pets and lots of people constantly running in and out of your home, you may not want to paint such high traffic areas as family rooms and kitchens. Another thing to note, dark floors seem to attract dust and fur and white floors seem to attract mud and other debris. Painted floors, however, are very easily maintained.

Farrow & Ball, the upscale paint and wallpaper manufacturer has paints that are specifically designed for that “5th wall” otherwise known as the fall. Their website even offers suggestions and techniques to help guide you. For more information, please click here.

Paint does add an element of surprise be it on the floor or ceiling.
