Useful IPhone and IPad Apps are essential for me in the kitchen. As a Mom of two, a frequent hostess , and an interior designer with a busy design practice here in Midland, Texas, having my IPad and IPhone loaded with apps that save me time in the kitchen is important to me and allows me to have a calm, stress free cooking experience – a prerequisite to gracious entertaining.
I know many of you love to entertain, too, and, for the next few Saturdays, I will share some of my favorite kitchen apps that I enjoy using and that have saved me time and frustration.
By using apps, I’ve been able to remain calmer while preparing a meal for my family and our guests – allowing me to be a more gracious hostess and, if I’m lucky, I can save enough time to browse through a favorite design magazine, calmly, while waiting for my meal to finish cooking or our guests to arrive.
Today’s recommended app is SUBSTITUTIONS. It’s available for. 99 in the ITunes store.
It’s straightforward and gives me substitutions, instantly, for any number of items, in several categories: alcohol, allergy, baking, dairy, gluten free, migraine, low sodium, low fat, baking, vegan, utensils, seafood, herbs, spices, meat, dairy, etc.
It’s a lifesaver for me and, if you’re a busy Mom or a cook of any type, I hope you’ll find it as helpful as I have.
The gluten free and vegan substitutions menu, especially, for common foods [ many of my children’s friends and husband’s business associates have to – or prefer to – eat gluten free meals or are vegan ], has made it fast and easy for me to find foods I can use to substitute in recipes I already have.
I’ve also found their allergy section helpful when preparing meals. Clicking on this category quickly brings up substitutions for foods like peanuts, seafoods, etc.
Next Saturday, I’ll continue to share my favorite apps for you for gracious entertaining. If you’d like to download this one for .99, please click here .
