The company we surround ourselves with is guided by common interests, but the company we continue to keep serves as a creative network where every individual’s interpretation of an experience or situation drives the dialogue that inspires fresh ideas, and ultimately, results in new artistic approaches for future work.

Working in design, we all can agree that the environments in which we cohabitate influence our artistic expressions – whether it be in a traditional office space or otherwise. Fernando Mastrangelo saw the importance for creating that a space that fosters a sense of community and thus manifested itself into his latest venture:  In Good Company, Celebrating Furniture, Art, Design, Sculpture and the vast, vast space in-between; a collaboration with 1stdibs.

After taking possession of his new Brooklyn facility, Fernando Mastrangelo has built out his dream studio – a full-scale 10,000 square foot sculpture and furniture workshop, with a dedicated gallery that serves as a platform for exchange. The space will allow for total experimentation without the limits of a showroom/gallery where commerce gets in the way of creative freedom.

The studio is uninhibited – Fernando can explore new forms and materials – host community gatherings, showcase progressive new work in unexpected and creative ways or it can just function as a space to host clients and friends. The idea is to do it all, and to always embody the renegade spirit which has become one of the hallmarks of the studio.

What about this curatorial group is unique and special to the design world? The exhibitors, although spanning the country geographically, have all become close in their mutual interactions within the design community. Joined by a common sensibility, they will gather in a celebration of community while debuting never-seen-before works that honor creativity and the spirit of the avant-garde. The union of these talented young artists, designers, architects, and jewelers is the foundation for the platform and the space is as much a part of the art as the beautiful works of art in it.
