I had the pleasure of meeting Vera Vandenbosch at the Design Bloggers Conference two years ago. She is simply delightful. I was lucky enough to see her again at the last conference. I was thrilled to learn that she had written a book. She was kind enough to give me a copy and I have loved pouring over the pages.
We all have our secret little stash of fabric scraps, ribbons, buttons, and other knick-knacks hidden away in the back of closets. Would it not be so nice to finally be able to put those forgotten treasurers to good use? Well thanks to Vera Vandenbosch and her new book, Scraps, you now can.
This book contains fashionable and unique projects ranging from jewelry to home goods that are all made using fabric bits and pieces. Each project featured in the book is stylish, sustainable, affordable, and kid-friendly. They make perfect jewelry, accessory, and home décor projects to make, share, or keep.
Vandenbosch began exploring her artistic passion early in life as a graduate of the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts fashion department. She continued to build her knowledge after graduation working as a stylist, writer, and photographer for a trend forecasting company in Paris. She later made a move to New York City where she spearheads the marketing initiatives of major home furnishings, textiles, and interior design companies.
Nowadays in her spare time, she enjoys browsing through flea markets, dabbling in the digital photography world, working on her blog, and has at least a dozen craft projects at various stages of completion.
She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, two children, two cats, two birds, and is the author of two craft booklets: Bungee Band Bracelets & More and Mini Macramé.
