Soft music, lightly scented candles, a glamorous bouquet of fresh cut flowers, the best French pressed linens, decadent down pillows, dimmed lighting, delicious textures, colors that flatter you – is there a woman { or man ? } alive who doesn’t dream of having their own version of a romantic bedroom? With Valentine’s Day on Friday this week, I thought I’d share 6 distinctly different bedrooms with you -in shades of red, pink and lavender, to help you get inspired to create your own romantic sanctuary. Which one is your favorite?
Is it this bedroom designed by Barry Darr Dixon, inspired by pure romance?
Is it this more masculine bedroom designed by Alidad, inspired by Greece, with its low ceilings, filtered light, fringed canopy, rich woods and mink throw?
Is it this lighter, airier bedroom designed by Charlotte Moss, with the frisky and unexpected leopard print at its foot? { notice how skillfully she used only patterns in a single color to minimize the multitude of angles in this room }
Or is it this unique bedroom, created for an imaginary family of Hugenot silk weavers in the Dennis Severs house in England, with its damask, tassels and cords and touches of chinoiserie?
Or is it this gorgeous room, with its layers of silver candelabra, the chipped and peeling canape, the oil paintings and portraits hanging on thick velvet ribbons, the ripped and torn fabric together with thes soft silk of the pillows..
Or does your taste lean towards this dramatic and sensual red bedroom in Lorenzo Castillo’s home?
or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, is it this French inspired room designed, with its lovely light, once again, designed by Charlotte Moss, that inspires you?
And maybe it’s none of the above, but instead, you prefer the bolder, more theatrical punch of the work of interior designer Mary McDonald, as seen in these 2 pictures, one close up and one at a distance, for this red bedroom she designed for an LA movie mogul?
Or, lastly, maybe it’s this beautiful bedroom, in shades of lavender, pink and radiant orchid, designed by Bunny Williams, whom I was fortunate enough to meet at last fall’s High Point Market, that could inspire you the most to create the bedroom of your dreams.
Which bedroom has inspired you the most, dear readers? Please let me know in the comments ~
I hope that today’s post has helped inspire you to create your own beautiful and romantic bedroom sanctuaries for your own homes.
And, one final note: no matter how busy our lives got when our children were small, having a beautiful, romantic bedroom to share with my husband, even if it just meant dimming the lights, lighting a candle, changing the mood through music and fresh sheets, has been one of the keys to our happy marriage ~
