Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 5.15.11 AM With the relaxed days of summer here, and everyone living poolside as much as possible, whether at home or on their summer vacations, we wanted to inspire you today, dear readers, with this luxury pool pavilion designed for a couple in St. Louis, Missouri by New York based interior designer, Marshall Watson.

Mr. Watson designed the stunning exterior of this luxury pool pavilion to match the 18th century Georgian exteriors of this couple’s main home, but the interiors, as you will see in the next photos, reflect a lighter, Swedish touch.

Are you ready for gorgeous?Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 5.17.43 AMBesides the beautifully paneled walls and the way the light floats in those tall french doors, what we love most about the kitchen/dining area below is that he took beach towels and had them made into slipcovers for the chairs, and then had them monogrammed.
Elegant and *wet bathing suit* friendly….in one fell swoop.

Brilliant!
Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 5.16.42 AMHere’s another view of the same space, and what we find interesting is the way the time of day and the change in natural lighting has impacted the color of the walls.
The photo below was taken by another photographer, Alise O’Brien, and was not part of the Traditional Home photo shoot.
Which photo do you like better?
Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 5.12.52 AMAnd now for the magnificent kitchen. What we like best { besides that hardware! } is the way every last inch of space was designed for additional storage.  The owners use their luxury poolside pavilion for entertaining during the summer, and needed the extra storage so they would not have to carry dishes, serving platters, etc. out to the pool from the main house.

And are you noticing the edge on that carrera marble countertop, the way there’s a beautifully detailed fascia plate above the sink to hide the overhead lighting fixture there, how the backsplash carries through from the dining area and how the light switch plates match it, versus being an afterthought?
Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 5.16.01 AMWith indoor/outdoor luxury living as popular as it is now, the range of options for outdoor fabrics that can stand up to rain, sun and damp has expanded tremendously, and many of these same fabrics are now being used in the home, too.  A few resources we like? Sunbrella, Crypton and Perennials by David Sutherland.

And hello to the discreetly placed outdoor speaker and the black painted trellis for climbing jasmine in the picture below, too.
Can’t you just imagine enjoying a cocktail, while breathing in that divine smell combined with listening to your favorite music?

What a feast for the senses!
Screen Shot 2016-06-26 at 5.15.11 AMAnd lastly, today, dear readers, we want you to remember, even if you can’t have a pool pavilion like this for your own homes, what you can do is to create small, intentional moments of beauty, whether inside or outside, to enhance your senses and bring joy to your everyday life.
