Over the weekend, I was given my assignment for this week’s Hadley Court post – to pair fashions with one of Leslie’s High Point Market sponsors – art and framing resource, Picture Source.
Leslie visited their showroom last Friday at High Point Market, and took pictures of what she liked best, which are not only within this post, but some of which she shared in her post yesterday, here).
Shocked by the news I read last evening, the passing of fashion design icon Oscar de La Renta, I focused this pairings post today only on his designs – as a tribute to his timeless designs, attention to detail, and classic plus transitional styling.
The design world has forever been changed by the contributions of Oscar de La Renta, and he will be greatly missed. You can find a newly added “Designed By” tribute board to Oscar de la Renta on Hadley Court’s Pinterest here, as well as luxury art from Picture Source, here.
Below are ten more pairings of ‘works of art’ celebrating Oscar de La Renta designs, paired with art from Picture Source…
Although the above pairing of Picture Source Art with Oscar de la Renta couture gowns is from his Paris Show in 1996, they could have just as easily been designed for today – truly an example of timeless design…
I knew when I saw these carved scroll-work Oscar de La Renta earrings, they’d pair perfectly with one of Leslie’s favorites from Picture Source – Octi Coral I – a giclee print signed by the artist, John Butler.
The Oscar de La Renta Gladia bootie, from his Spring 2013 Resort Collection, has lines mimicking the lines in this decograph from Picture Source.
The lines of these filigree style laser cut bone buttons from Oscar de La Renta again mimic the lines in this Picture Source work of art – made of mulberry paper.
A gown from Oscar de la Renta ‘s Fall 2014 Collection paired with art from Picture Source.
Timeless designs in fashion an art can be abstract – whether it be geometric or more organic and free-flowing.
Model Ataui Deng wears Oscar de La Renta from his Fall 2011 Collection which actually feels like HEAVEN, HUMAN, EARTH II – a giclee on canvas – another favorite of Leslie Hendrix Wood as she toured the Picture Source showroom.
Also a Leslie favorite – this 26 x 30 ACRYLIC BRUSHWORKS by BESLER at Picture Source. I paired it with a lovely lady-like green and gold dress from Oscar’s 2013 Spring Collection.
Oscar de La Renta ‘s recent Spring 2015 Collection explodes with joy and color as does ‘A Copious Season’ by Starla Halfmann from Picture Source.

As does art.
Thank you, Picture Source, for being one of Leslie’s sponsors to High Point Market. We wish you continued success with your dedication to representing quality artists at a reasonable price and your commitment to beautiful framing and sustainability.
