Inventory and Toss

The first step in organizing your closet is to inventory and toss what you no longer want or need. Divide your clothes and accessories into three piles: Donate, repair, keep. If you’re emotionally attached to an item, ask yourself if it’s something you would buy and love today. If you haven’t worn it in the past year or so, chances are the answer is “no”! Only keep items you truly love and donate the rest.

Choose Streamlined Hangars

One of the secrets to a more beautiful, organized closet is choosing streamlined hangars. We love these slim velvet hangers as they help keep clothes from slipping; we also love these rose gold hangers which make your wardrobe look decidedly glamorous.

Use Containers for Storage

Speaking of your wardrobe, make sure you are using proper containers for storage and keep seasonal items out of the way. You can buy storage boxes to keep winter sweaters in when summer rolls around and to store hats, too. Choose containers in a similar color scheme for a more streamlined look.

Put Essentials on Display

Don’t store everything away and keep your essentials on display like shoes, accessories, and handbags you frequently use. For the purses that aren’t in use, store them in the dust bags they came with and use packing paper to stuff them to help them keep their shape. You can also use these boot shapers to help boots retain their shape as well.
