The Triad area of North Carolina is getting ready for the flurry of activity that the world’s largest furniture, art, accessories and lighting wholesale tradeshow will bring to the area next week. Across the country, people’s calendars and agendas are filling up with appointments and showroom plans – and none more so than the 2015 High Point Market Authority’s Style Spotters!
Today, dear Hadley Court readers, I will help you know how to follow each Style Spotter on Pinterest and on Twitter, so you can follow along with them virtually – and be amongst the first to see what’s new and exciting in interiors!
But first..a little background.
High Point Market Authority invited eight top interior designers to showcase their favorite products and top trends during this spring’s High Point Market, Apr 18-23, 2015 and this fall’s High Point Market in October. High Point Market Authority also invited back Style Spotter emeritus, Tampa, FL interior designer Michelle Jennings-Wiebe, to guide the first time Style Spotters.
And as you can imagine, Leslie Hendrix Wood was beyond thrilled to be invited to be one of them!
The Style Spotters are a diversified group of designers, coming from all parts of the country, with different aesthetic points of view, with varying years of experience, but all sharing one thing in common – a love for beauty and helping their clients create it.
As Leslie Carothers mentioned in her very detailed post, What is High Point Market?, the Style Spotters are given 25 Style Spotter cards each market, and during market, they have the task of spotting 25 products — whatever captures their attention from the standpoint of color, design, function, form, style and quality — and then placing an official #hpmktSS card on the 25 items they believe most represent what’s new and fresh, while still consistent with their aesthetic point of view, from the over 2000 exhibitors with showrooms at High Point Market. It’s a huge job with a lot of responsibility that all of the Style Spotters take very seriously.
Some of the buzz already began last month during a live interview with the 2015 Style Spotters.
During the interview, the Style Spotters shared some early ideas of what they will be looking to spot, based on what they saw from the market preview catalogs that were made available to them. Here’s a peek at what some of them chose.
A marble topped gold coffee table from Alden Parkes – Leslie Hendrix Wood
*Not your grandma’s* contemporary wingback chairs, designed by Julie Browning Bova for Stanford Furniture – Patti Johnson
Vibrant and organic wall art from Natural Curiosities – Lori Gilder
Refined elegant gold lighting from Visual Comfort & Co. – Arianne Bellizarie

Once the Style Spotter team has finished visiting showrooms and carefully selecting the most exciting products, that they feel represent their aesthetic point of view, and what they’d like to share with the world, all market attendees will be able to join them on Tuesday morning April 21 in the 11th floor ballroom of the IHFC Building’s Green Wing for a lively panel discussion where they’ll each discuss what they saw and all of their finds will be shown on a big screen. They’ll put their finds in context and share why they chose what they did.
You, too, dear readers, can follow along from afar via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, by following the hashtag:
#HPMKT
on Tuesday morning, April 21st, starting at 9 am Eastern Time.
How To Follow A Hashtag?
To follow a hashtag on a social media platform, just enter this tag symbol > # {which is above the number 3 on your computer} plus the letters next to the tag symbol, in this case: HPMKT in the search box on the social media platform you are using. When you do, you will see all the posts or tweets where people who are attending the event have used that tag. It’s a great way to be part of any event, virtually!
Immediately following Style Spotters LIVE!, market goers will be able to join the Style Spotters on a VIP Tour of two of their must-see showrooms. These tours start at 10:30am and last for one hour. If you’ll be attending market, too, meet the Style Spotters in front of the Transportation Terminal on Commerce Ave to go with your group to the showrooms each Style Spotter has selected.
Leslie will be taking her tour to see the Mary McDonald, David Easton and Larry Laslo collections at Guy Chaddock + Libby Langdon’s newest collection at Braxton Culler.
