Hadley Court readers –come and travel a world of beauty with me today as I take you on a highlight tour of the stunning John Richard Collection showroom at High Point Market.
As some of you may remember, John Richard Collection was one of Leslie Hendrix Wood’s sponsors to market. On the day we visited, we were warmly welcomed to their magnificent showroom in the 200 Steele building.
What follows is only a smattering of what we saw –but we can confidently share that this showroom carries a wide wide range of exquisitely beautiful lighting, mirrors, accent furniture, accessories and silk florals — in a wide range of styles to suit many different tastes, but all tied together by an eye for what makes a home beautiful, gracious, glamorous, and welcoming.
The lighting is the first thing that you can’t help but notice. Everywhere we turned was one drop dead beautiful chandelier after another + John Richards table lamps, sconces, and accent lamps. John Richard is definitely your resource for lighting – and look for a post later this week from Lynda -pairing some of the lighting fixtures Leslie loved best with couture fashions.
Here’s the magnificent chandelier in the setting that greeted us as we walked through the door.
Just a small detail from one of the table lamp bases to give you an idea of the craftsmanship.
It’s hard to know where to lead you next, dear readers, as there was so much to see around every corner…and so I digress for a minute to take you around the corner to meet the owner, Alex Malouf.
Mr. Malouf lives in Greenwood, Mississippi and despite having factories around the world to produce what is shown in his showroom, he has kept his executive and management team headquartered in Greenwood in order to preserve 200 higher paying jobs in this small town economy.
In 2013, Mr. Malouf received the 2013 Tozzoli International Business Award for excellence in the development of international business leadership. The Tozzoli International Business award is named for Guy Tozzoli who was the founder and President of the World Trade Center Association in NYC and a three time Novel Peace Prize nominee.
From all of us here at Hadley Court, Mr. Malouf: congratulations and we applaud your focus on supporting jobs in a small town Southern economy.
Now, back to the beauty!
You can’t help but be struck by the variety and perfection of the finishes on the many bergeres, bookcases and armoires in the John Richard Collection showroom, but this combination of 3 finishes on one armoire was the stand out to us.
Another close up detail on the top of a chest of drawers.
John Richard Collection is also well known for their verre eglomise workmanship on mirrors and furniture and this grouping of 9 mirrors below employing this technique caught our eye.
If you missed our previous post explaining the verre eglomise technique in detail with pictures of some of the larger mirrors in the John Richard Collection that showcase their virtuosity in verre eglomise, please come back after finishing this post to read it here.
As you round another corner in the showroom, you come into their accessory area, where thousands of well priced accessories are artfully arranged and lighted on glass shelving.
Leslie particularly liked this set of 3 selenite crystal starbursts on lucite stands and commented on how nice they would look on her SALON desk by Bernhardt that is in her design offices at Chancellor Interiors in Midland, Texas.
Lucite was everywhere at #HPMKt and it’s a material that Leslie loves for its glamorous sparkle.
The picture below gives you an idea of their selection — and this is but one vignette out of at least 30 in their showroom at High Point Market.
Right now you might be saying to yourself, ” I could never pick or decide with so much selection!” – which is why most of us need to hire a designer like Leslie, pictured below on a beautiful chair [ a chair seen in the HORCHOW catalog ] to curate the best for us out of assortments like these.
Designers, once they get to know our taste, our needs and our desires , are able to see proportion and scale better than 99% of the general population – in their mind’s eye – and can select compositions of shapes, textures, colors and patterns that will bring a sense of harmony and grace to our homes.
Once again, our thanks to the team at John Richard for making us feel so welcomed and we hope today’s post conveys to you, readers, some of the excitement we felt when we visited their showroom and were dazzled by the sumptousness of what artisans from around the world are able to create with guidance and direction from the team at John Richards Collection headquarters in Greenville, MS. This is collaboration in design at its apogee.
We also invite you, in case you missed it earlier, to see Lynda’s beautiful post pairing John Richard Collection furniture -that Leslie curated from some pictures that were sent to her before she visited their showroom at High Point Market –
