What textile is timeless and classic – traditional and yet on trend? In a word: denim. Today, dear Hadley Court readers, in honor of fall and back to school, enjoy fashion and decor pairing incorporating #DENIMDESIGN!
From torn dungarees to an upholstered chesterfield – using denim in design, America’s most iconic staple, whether in home furnishings or in fashion, continues to be reinterpreted in fresh new ways. Denim can be tough & durable or soft & comfortable – which makes it an ideal textile to translate into fashion and decor.
Denim can be dressed up with heels and a cape – or it can be shredded into something you make.

Denim is so transitional, its influence can be seen in design today from runways to retailers to upholstered furnishings. Denim paint treatments are even used on furniture and walls, most notably with a crosshatch brush-stroke pattern created by Ralph Lauren (to see how, visit ralphlaurenpaint.com/fauxtechniques)
But if you don’t want to get your hands dirty, feast your eyes on these denim delights below, and be inspired for the start of the back to school and fall season…
