Lazy summer days are here…and what could be more dreamy than a classic blue and white corner like this in your kitchen, from the home of Eliza Gatfield?
Not much, right?
We want to take you on a dreamy tour of some of our favorite blue and white kitchens… for a little summertime inspiration!
The kitchen above, featured in Coastal Living magazine {a must read for us, especially on vacation !} was designed by Erin Paige Pitts. We love how she used that shimmery, glamorous, pale blue-lavender, glass mosaic tile as her client’s backsplash and appreciate how well she designed it to accommodate her client’s desire to be able to entertain and cook for large groups of people.
Are you noticing its two island and sink configuration?
In the kitchen below, designer Kathleen Walsh‘s choice of classic X back barstools and dining chairs provide a beautiful contrast to the all white cabinetry, but it’s that pale blue plaid inset ceiling that spoke to us!
What we love about this kitchen. besides its classic beauty, is how easy it would be for any new owners of this home to change out the blue inset in the ceiling, and the furniture and lighting, to reflect their own color preferences.
Here’s another view of this beautiful ceiling detail.
In the kitchen below, designed by Cheryl Scrymgeour, we love how it maintains its elegance through the quality of the millwork, while at the same time exuding old fashioned charm with its pale blue painted beadboard walls and open kitchen shelving. Notice how the range hood isn’t showing, but instead is hidden under that gorgeous millwork.
And this kitchen below, built by DEANE, Inc, with its exquisite coffered ceiling, painted with blue insets, just took our breath away.
Are you noticing that articulating faucet, too, and how its tall thin lines echo the same tall thin line of the paddle next to the pizza oven? Perfection!
We love this *boho classic* California kitchen below, designed by Annette English, and the way just the crown molding and the millwork around the window has been painted blue. This design detail *frames* the disparate finishes and textures in this kitchen so beautifully, and gives the entire kitchen visual cohesiveness.
And lastly today, a fresh, modern take on the classic blue and white kitchen, as designed by Elizabeth Lawson.
The purity of line and the matte gold hardware, faucet and lighting fixtures over the sink, mixed with the chrome range hood, exudes chic, timeless style. Which one of these blue and white kitchens is your favorite, and why?
We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

There, you’ll find images like the one below, which is one of our most re-pinned images ever. It’s a home designed by Austin Patterson Disston Architects for Eliza Gatfield, herself an architect, and the owner of www.customcoolrugs.com.
We showed a corner in Eliza’s previous kitchen in our opening image, and love seeing how she has kept her love for blue and white alive in her new home, too.
As always, dear readers, thank you for reading Hadley Court, we appreciate YOU.
