What a grand night it was, dear readers!
On Tuesday evening, December 6th, 2016, in New York City at The Harmonie Club, the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge NYC gala fundraiser was held, with gorgeous table scapes created by 26 very talented interior designers, including the table scape you will see in today’s post, created by the owner of this blog, Leslie Hendrix Wood of Leslie Hendrix Wood Interiors in Midland, Texas.
Ready for the beauty?
The #HopeLodgeNYC 2016 benefit gala was chaired, for the 9th year in a row, by New York City based Guillaume Gentet of Guillaume Genet Interiors with David Carpenter, AIA, along with their co-chairs, philanthropists Ronald and Sandy Diamond. They did an amazing job in gathering both sponsors
and 26 of the USA’s finest luxury interior designers
together to participate in creating a spectacular evening to help raise funds for the very important work that the Hope Lodge New York City does in helping people feel *at home* and among friends, when they are going through a very scary experience, away from the true comforts of their own homes.
This year’s theme was *Seasons of Hope* and each designer was free to choose the season that most resonated with their aesthetic.
Leslie chose *Autumn* and, as you can see here in this image that appeared on New York Spaces magazine’s blog, the warm burgundies, oranges, reds and golds of autumn were beautifully brought together.
The floral art was created for her by Makini Regal of Makini Regal Designs,
whom Leslie met earlier this year during an event at The Greenbriar.
Makini lives in Brooklyn, and Leslie loved her work so much that she partnered with Makini to create this stunning centerpiece.
Makini and her assistant spent over 5 hours created this masterpiece of floral art for the center of Leslie’s table.
Below, are a few close up images and please look over on Leslie’s Instagram feed at http://instagram.com/hadleycourt to see even more.
The table appointments were equal to the centerpiece.
Earlier this summer, Leslie and her husband visited Venice on their summer vacation, and Leslie went to the Fortuny showroom.
While there, she purchased the yardage she needed to create the exquisite tablecloth that was the first layer to her tablescape.
{ And can we talk about this trim? }
Leslie brought her own Arte Italica gold & silver leafed *Vetro* tableware and stemware…
and the beautiful silverware…
and then she layered in candles – faux ones, since real candles were not allowed.
But, the real coup de grace, aside from the centerpiece, were the pears Leslie hand gilded herself, before she left Midland, and to which
a specially made card, with the word, *Hope* – with calligraphy by Oluwa Dami – was tied with a thin piece of gold ribbon to the stem of each pear.
It was a magical finishing touch and reminded me of the first brush of snow as autumn gives way to winter.
Looking up, this was the view.
We want to thank everyone involved in this wonderful event for making it as special and meaningful as it was, and for welcoming Leslie so warmly to New York City.
And, lastly, we would like to give a special thanks to Barbara Viteri of NYC-based, www.designerlebrity.com, for the lovely mention of Leslie’s tablescape on her own post, here.
Barbara created a wonderful gallery of images of some of the other designer’s tables, too from the Hope Lodge NYC – don’t miss her post!
From beginning to end, this has been a wonderful creative experience – and a heartwarming one – and we invite you to follow the official tag:#HopeLodgeNYCBash, if you’d like to see even more images from all the other designers, volunteers, sponsors, etc. involved, too.

Dreams do come true, but the most important dream we’d like to see come true is the dream of all people with cancer, and that is – as MD Anderson’s tagline so succinctly states – “to make cancer – history.”
Until then, if you, or someone you know, is needing treatment for cancer, we invite you to please click this link to find one of the 31 Hope Lodges operated by the American Cancer Society in the USA, where people undergoing treatment for cancer, away from the comforts of their own homes, can stay, free of charge.
