Welcome to Hadley Court, my interior design blog celebrating gracious living, timeless design and family traditions. I am so glad you’re here. People often ask me where the name HADLEY COURT comes from. It’s the name of my family’s ancestral summer home in Arkansas, where I spent every summer from the time I was a little girl through my teens. The picture you see is the courtyard.
There I learned from my mother, my style icon, the art of gracious living – whether it encompassed gracious entertaining, traveling, decorating, organizing or giving – all areas in which she excelled.
She showed me by example what it was like to live a life rooted in faith and to appreciate that the real joys in life don’t come from money, but from growing strong friendships, participating in community giving, and celebrating family traditions.
I’ve lived all of my life in Midland, Texas and my husband and I hope we’ve passed these values on to our two children, who will both soon be leaving home to begin new lives of their own.
In preparation for the time when they would both be leaving home, about two years ago, I started following my passion, practicing luxury interior decorating. I am blessed to be working at Chancellor Interiors here in Midland. I love what I do and am grateful for my friends and clients that allow me to create beautiful homes for them that share the stories of their lives.
After starting my interiors practice, I began this interior design blog and then, last year, began to build the Hadley Court luxury lifestyle brand, too. It has been a joy for me as I get ready for the second phase of my own life – and I imagine some of you, readers, might be going through this same life transition, too. I appreciate you being here with me to share in this journey.
I don’t know where my journey will take me yet, but I’m looking forward to finding out, and grateful to have the support of my my family, friends and clients here in Midland. I pray each day to be led in the direction that is God’s will for my life.
My Mother and grandmother taught me that saying Please and Thank You are the two most important words in the English language and so I’d like to end by saying thank you to my guest contributors over these past two years that have helped grow Hadley Court, and to you, readers.
I appreciate your subscriptions, feedback and comments on my posts. I never take your time for granted and hope that you find each Hadley Court blog post helpful to you in creating your own version of a gracious life.
And, please, if you haven’t yet, I invite you to subscribe to the Hadley Court blog by clicking on the buttons on my site, and to also, if you’d like, follow Hadley Court on Pinterest, Google +, Facebook and Twitter by clicking on the icons on the upper right hand site of my homepage.
